Sam Bechthold grew up in Holladay, UT where he attended Skyline High School. At Skyline, Sam played football, volleyball and wrestled. He was also involved in student government and cherished every aspect of his high school experience.

Throughout high school and college, Sam played for various volleyball clubs and coached the varsity and junior varsity boys and girls volleyball teams at Churchill Junior High School with his father, Gene Bechthold. He also helped run the Mt. Olympus girls volleyball club in Salt Lake City in 2006 and 2007, before marrying his wife Julie in May, 2007.

Sam is excited to be back in Salt Lake after 8 years away in Las Vegas, NV and Toledo, OH for work and Ithaca, NY for graduate school. Sam is currently the Director of Business Development for a local senior housing operator (Eduro Healthcare) and has a passion for the senior care industry.

Sam and Julie will have two children in the lower school at Waterford next year (Tucker, 7) and (Maizie, 5). He is excited to provide a positive athletic experience for each player on team and hopes to build the Waterford volleyball program into a regular region and state championship contender!
