Class 2A Golf: Grand Takes State Crown
by The Salt Lake Tribune, www.sltrib.com

PROVO - Grand County didn't improve its second-day score from its first-day total of 339, but the team from Moab played well enough to win the championship on Thursday at the Class 2-A state golf tournament.
The Red Devils finished with a two-day total of 680, and edged Rowland Hall by two strokes to win their first state championship since 1997 at The Reserve at East Bay Golf Course.
Waterford's Blake Peterson shot a 2-over-par 146 to win medalist honors, the eighth straight year a golfer from the private school in Sandy has won the individual award at either the 1-A or 2-A tourney.
Beaver's Johnny Lindsay was three shots back at 149, while Grand's Ben Copeland placed third at 158.
Thursday, the Red Devils counted Copeland's 76, Bryce Till's 84, Chase Pruitt's 90 and one of the 93s shot by Kyle Esquibel and Jordan Martin.
