Coach Bennett is a native of Salt Lake City, where he played high school basketball at Skyline, earning All-State honors during his senior year. He played collegiate ball at Saint Mary's College in the West Coast Conference. He was the Conference Student Athlete of the Year after his senior season. Bennett started his coaching experience as the varsity head coach at Meridian High School. After going 1-17 in his inaugural season (the one victory coming at the expense of Waterford!), Coach Bennett's team eventually reached the state tournament. At Waterford, Coach Bennett's teams have played hard and competed well, taking 3rd place in the WAC two years ago, and winning an opening round tournament game last year.
